Trezor® Hardware® - Wallet | Getting Started*

It looks like you're looking for information on getting started with a Trezor® Hardware Wallet. Here's a step-by-step guide to help you get up and running with your Trezor hardware wallet.

1. Unbox Your Trezor Wallet

When you receive your Trezor device, you'll want to make sure it is new and hasn’t been tampered with. Check that the packaging is intact.

Inside the box, you should find:

  • The Trezor device (Trezor One or Trezor Model T)
  • A USB cable
  • Recovery seed cards (for backup)
  • A lanyard (for Model T)

2. Connect Your Trezor to Your Computer

  • Plug your Trezor into your computer using the provided USB cable.
  • Visit the official Trezor website at trezor.io/start. It's important to always use the official website to ensure you are downloading the correct software.

3. Install the Trezor Bridge (if prompted)

The Trezor Bridge is a software that helps your Trezor device communicate with your browser. If you're prompted to install it, follow the instructions on the website.

For Trezor Model T, you will be using Trezor Suite, a more modern and comprehensive app.

4. Set Up the Device

Once connected to the website or Trezor Suite, you will be guided through the setup process.

  • Select your device: Choose whether you’re setting up a new Trezor wallet or recovering an existing one.
  • Create a PIN: You’ll be prompted to choose a PIN for your device. This PIN will be required every time you access your Trezor.
  • Write down your recovery seed: This is one of the most important steps. Trezor will display a 12-24 word recovery seed. Write it down carefully on the provided recovery card and store it in a safe place. This seed is your only backup to recover your wallet if something happens to your Trezor device.

5. Create a Wallet

You’ll be able to set up your wallet in either Bitcoin, Ethereum, or other supported cryptocurrencies. Once the setup process is complete, you’ll be able to access your wallet, make transactions, and check balances.

6. Backup and Security

  • Secure your recovery seed: Never store your recovery seed online or in digital form. If someone gains access to your recovery seed, they could potentially access your funds.
  • Enable passphrase (optional): For added security, you can set up a passphrase to act as an extra layer of protection in addition to your PIN.

7. Using Your Trezor Wallet

  • Receiving Funds: You can receive cryptocurrency by selecting the “Receive” tab in the Trezor software. This will generate an address that you can share with others.
  • Sending Funds: To send funds, you’ll need to select the “Send” tab, enter the recipient’s address and amount, and confirm the transaction.

8. Stay Updated

Trezor regularly updates its firmware to improve security and add new features. Make sure to install any updates as they become available.

9. Trezor Suite (Optional)

For a more feature-rich experience, you can use the Trezor Suite application, available for both desktop and mobile. This application gives you advanced options for managing your crypto assets and is designed to be an all-in-one solution.

Important Notes:

  • Never share your recovery seed with anyone.
  • Always double-check the URL before entering any sensitive information; ensure it’s the official Trezor website.
  • Trezor wallets are designed to keep your private keys secure and offline, making them much safer than storing your crypto on an exchange.
